Sussex & Area

sussexlogoSussex is a picture-perfect rural community nestled in the beautiful countryside of southcentral New Brunswick. Heritage buildings, quaint shops and restaurants serving a range of delicious offerings line our streets, inviting you to discover what makes us the heart of the Picture Province.

Explore our museums, unwind at one of the many events or festivals or kick it up a notch in one of the most exciting outdoor recreation settings anywhere.

Sussex and area offer a variety of places to stay, whether you are looking for a charming getaway or an active weekend with your friends. Cozy motels, historic Bed & Breakfasts and rural campgrounds provide many great options when it’s time to relax at the end of the day.

Neighbouring Sussex Corner is a vibrant community offering a warm welcome to “A quiet corner in a busy world”.

Along with our fabulous murals, make plans to see other great Sussex events. You don’t want to miss the Atlantic International Balloon Fiesta each September. Or enjoy a leisurely tour of our countryside as you discover the wooden treasures that make our county the Covered Bridge Capital of Atlantic Canada.

You’ll find Sussex and Sussex Corner at the juncture of the River Valley Scenic Drive and the Fundy Coastal Drive, which makes us an ideal starting point for your day-trips in Southern New Brunswick. Three major cities are an easy hour’s drive away –  we’re only 45 minutes from Saint John, 50 minutes from Moncton and 75 minutes from Fredericton. Even Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia are just a two-hour drive away.

Come for the weekend, stay for a week or more. We’re proud to share our Sussex story with you!

Sussex – “We are Open For Business”

“A strong program of public art can make a dramatic impact on a town creating not only visual interest and a sense of identity, but arousing outside interest and bringing prosperity to the area.”

Ken White, mural artist

Marc Thorne 2015I bring greetings from myself and the Sussex Town Council on behalf of the residents of Sussex.

We are very pleased and excited about the Mural Project. We feel the murals will continue to further enhance our reputation as a great place to live and to raise a family.

Sussex is rich in tradition with Camp Sussex, training young men and women to defend our freedom, the oldest established co-operative in the world (165 years), an award-winning dairy industry and so much more. Come and see our heritage unfold before your eyes through these beautiful murals.
